Luiza Soezima

Hello there! Welcome to my homepage!

I am Luiza Soezima, and since December 2025 I am a PhD Student at Aarhus University, under the supervision of Diego F. Aranha and Peter Scholl.

Previously, I completed the MSc. in Computer Science at ENSIMAG (École nationale supérieure d’informatique et de mathématiques appliquées de Grenoble) - UGA (Université Grenoble Alpes) in the beautiful Grenoble , France . My M2 Research was performed at CASC(Calcul Algébrique et Symbolique, Sécurité, Systèmes Complexes, Codes et Cryptologie) team at Laboratoire Jean Kuntzmann under supervision of Jean-Guillaume Dumas and Aude Maignan, where my thesis was titled “Towards Fuzzy Private Set Union”.

I pursue a BSc. in Computer Science at Instituto de Matemática e Estatística - Universidade de São Paulo, in the huge São Paulo , Brazil (I am also from São Paulo, Brazil) and during the bachelor thesis I was supervised by Hilder Vitor Lima Pereira and Alfredo Goldman, where the main research topics were Fully Homomorphic Encryption and Private Information Retrieval.

Currently my main topics of interest are Private Information Retrieval and Private Set Operations (with extensions to Fuzzy Matching).

My goals

I wish to be a role model for young female scientists from Latin America, especially from Brazil. I want to inspire, guide, and help them overcome educational challenges.

I am aware that by sharing my experiences and advocating for equitable opportunities, I will be able to amplify the voices of female scientists in LATAM region, fostering diversity, inclusion, and empowerment in the global scientific community.

A bit more about me

Besides crypto, maths and computer science, I love music. I have played classical piano since I was 5 years old and I strongly believe that music is one of the most touching expressions of the human soul.

Through my life experiences, I have learned we must value our sentimental expression and social empathy.

What makes you a distinguished mind is not constantly being great but doing the best with what you have and striving to better yourself, science and society.
